for this project, the neutral palette is accented with vibrant teals and blues. the artwork was sourced from LaToya's international travels.
SHAPIRO RESIDENCE
happy. vibrant. entertain. in this redesign pops of color were added throughout the space.
existing furniture was rearranged and paired with new cushion covers, rugs, art work, and other accessories.

Black History Network
this is a quest for knowledge. a quest for identity. a quest to preserve a place in history.
as san francisco’s black population continues to steadily decrease it is crucial to document and display the contributions and experiences of african americans in san francisco’s past, present and future. this is an exploration in narrative architecture as a catalyst for social interaction and social change. exploring and retracing one’s lineage through stories of family and community results in a new understanding of the present, developing new connections and partnerships along the way.
the regeneration of social networks forms the foundation of networks that use shared knowledge to weave across perceived boundaries, reconnecting the layers of community that have been lost or broken. the black history network is a “living archive” that focuses on african americans in san francisco. it is a museum where the users generate and constantly regenerate the content that is on display. The exhibits are mostly digital and interactive.
This exploration seeks to create an architecture that is designed from the inside out and becomes a catalyst to passing on history as A form of storytelling.
*although the focus of this project was on the african american community in san francisco, I see the concept of this project spanning to any variety of topics.

the interiors of this library are inspired by the pacific ocean views. natural wood tones and soothing blues flow throughout the space.
As the Interior Designer on this project I was responsible for space planning, furniture, material and colour selection.

the library is a community gathering space. a welcoming environment is created through efficient space planning, thoughtful furniture and fabric selections, while pops of color keep energy flowing through the space.

Interior Alchemy : Finding Sacred Space
I have a background in architecture and interior design which I combine with soul searching to explore our purpose in this life on Earth. I believe it all boils down to LOVE + HAPPINESS with many lessons + experiences along the journey. This sketchbook project is part of a desire to create a visual diary - using words, sketches, and collage to organise my musings on life + space. This is work is also a part of a larger VISION to create beautiful well designed spaces that increase overall happiness + wellbeing. I see Design a Soulful Practice that supports growth and improves quality of life so we can all THRIVE. This act of discovery is limitless - this sketchbook is a glimpse.
The Wonder & Wander Dictionary
a collection of collages inspired by a love of definitions, old weathered dictionaries, paper, maps, mapping, travel, and exploring the landscape. I also used several collages I created while traveling (originally part of a 100 day project), I would place these card-size collages in the physical landscape and document the latitude to locate myself. I used this sketchbook to explore the concept of finding one's self and mapping one's way through life - along with some play on words. In the end we always find that the map always leads back to a HOME within.
