 Day 7

with Leaf Newman

Music | Healing Sounds | Affirmations

ACTIVATE

In this session:

  • We explore ACTIVATE as a principle of Interior Alchemy - Activate can mean many things, in this case we are focusing on activate as identifying what inspired action can we take in the direction of our vision? We explore using our voices in the form of singing affirmations to change our thoughts.

  • Leaf shares her journey home to self through consciously changing her limiting thought patterns to more uplifting ones. This practice has also lead to the vision of her latest music project 7even21 which is her response to the work of Dr. Caroline Leaf which discusses how thoughts become real things and create branches in the brain.

  • Leaf uses Bible Scriptures and Prayers to support her own affirmations. No matter your beliefs and practices, you can support your affirmations with inspiring texts that speak to you.

  • Leaf leads us in creating our own affirmations to sing along to her original music.

"And the leaves of the tree were for healing the nations." -Revelation 22:2

Leaf Hallelujiah Newman’s passion for God, people, and music can be traced back to what she calls her “Hippy-Christian” parents Franciso Tosocano Newman and Alison Susan Mills. Together, Leaf’s parents made films, paintings, wrote books, recorded music, acted on pioneering television shows, hosted radio shows, taught African American Film college courses, took in homeless families, and preached on street corners.

So it just makes sense that Leaf would do some of the same.  Leaf has guest-starred, alongside COMMON and Saul Williams, on an NAACP nominated episode of the hit sitcom "Girl Friends,” and won the reality singing contest  BET show "Welcome to Dreamland."  She has also co-written the song "King" by MOTOSHO-Eshe from Arrested Development and released 3 independent projects: "Seventeen" under the name Matawi Reigns, "Leaf Cool Eclectic" EP,  and "Flowers and Grass" a 14 song offering co-produced by Ryan Waters, Jabari Thomas Taylor, and Andrew DeBarge.

These days as a happy wife, mother of two, and a Communication professor at Georgia State University, Leaf is steeping her next highly anticipated project “7Even 21.” Centered on spiritual principles, words of affirmation, positive thinking, and healing sound, exemplifying - Love, Encouragement, Affirmation, and Fulfillment of Purpose.
