A while back I was exploring what I learned in Design school and how it can be applied to life. I have a new found desire to complete all this ideas I have been holding on to and let them finally be completed and let out in to the world - or discarded if that is their fate.

These are the 7 principals of Interior Alchemy and their relationship to the Architectre and Interior Design process.

Embrace

There is a process called PROGRAMMING where you learn everything you can about your project. How many? How much space? What do you want to accomplish? What are the requirements?  what is the deadline? Budget? Preferences?

In life this is the foundations of SELF-DISCOVERY.

Go deep (into desire)

August 17, 2017 in embrace, inspiration

I am my deepest desire

So hum

I AM

my desire informs my intention + it weaves the energy of my life story

deep down i am lead by a radiant enthusiasm, deep down i am an adventurer on a discovery mission, deep down i am an explosion of colour + deep down i am connection + creativity. deep down i am the experience + the one experiencing + expressing what i unearth

I AM MY DEEPEST DESIRE...

to be | to create | to love life fully

oprah + deepak offer 21 day meditations... this is the first centering thought of the most recent series. ( the above image is the thought on top of a work in progress).

Always many gems revealed + synchtonicities in these experiences. I still have lots of mind chatter, but i still give it a go each go round because it provides new awareness. I encourage you to check it out.

what is your deepest desire?

Be Wonderful

Activate (inner + outer home)

July 27, 2017 in activate

EXPLORING (morning light)

in the garden of life many things are revealed

3 ways to Activate your inner + outer home:

  1. Allow your senses to be open. What scents exist in your home. What smells do you want to introduce? Consider incense, essential oils, or plants and flowers. Try breathing more deeply and consciously take in the surrounding smells. Really see your home. Really hear your home. Really feel your home.

  2. Feel vs. Think. As you practice this you will grow in sensitivity. This is my challenge to consciously switch to feeling more rather than thinking so much. Check in with your body in each of your spaces. The body has much to tell - it is a sensory organ.

  3. Move away from non-essential. If you feel overwhelmed in your space. Let go of something you don’t really need (same with limiting beliefs).

As we know, perfection is not the goal. Instead, allow yourself the freedom to use your home as a laboratory. A place where you can experiment and try things out. Your home should be a safe place to explore your creative expression.

Most interesting homes are 'flawed' yet completely compelling and inviting. - Emily Henderson

Living in the NOW (embrace the moment)

July 26, 2017 in bookshelf, embrace, inspiration, thrive

Below are a few tips on living in the NOW gleaned from a book  I picked up several years ago, when back in San Francisco.  I visited a friend and she had this little gem on her table, “1,001 ways to live in the Moment” by Barabara Ann Kipfer.

I was really drawn to the book, so I purchased it and at some point actually read every single suggestion while riding the bus to and from work.  It came to me at a time when I really needed it. It is one of the books I still carry with me as I have moved to another country and into a home on the road.

Here are 5 reminders from the book (as I have interpreted it) that I carry with me in my heart on this journey of Inspired Living + creating Sacred Space:

1. Accept yourself as you are! And keep moving forward.  Appreciate the precious moments and move on without regret. Embrace the process of your life. This is the foundation of self-love, and I am a believer that everything else will thrive on this.

2. “Say yes to the good life” and know when to say “no”. You choose. To make a change you have to change your awareness.  What point of view are you living from? Do you allow yourself to enjoy life and live fully on your own terms? Are you supporting your self by cultivating an environment that supports you? Say yes to living your INSPIRED LIFE.

3. Focus on one task rather than multitasking. Deepen your attention. Embrace small goals and baby steps in the process. I am still working on this one everyday, it is very tempting to try to do many things at once. Although I have a million things running at once, I know that focus brings presence.

4. Be fully engaged in the process...Deepen your awareness. Take what may have become a routine for you, i.e. making the bed, and really be fully engaged in the process.  Consciously smooth out the sheets in a particular direction, notice how it feels, be aware. This is a way to practice mindfulness. How can this be applied to other areas of life?

5. Embrace Self-Care. Give yourself a pat on the back. Enumerate your succeses and do good deeds for yourself. Self care is checking in with yourself and responding to what you hear.

DESIGNING (from the inside out)

July 22, 2017 in imagination

living archive sectionDESIGNING (from the inside out)

she was on a quest to understand the nature of things (from the building blocks to construction). To rebuild the blueprint

at first she took this task literally - choosing a career in manifestation (from drawing to building). now she sees the cosmos within her very soul + how we are all a mirror for the world and the world our mirror.

the path is one of embodying the light in the here and now

a path of RADIANCE

(so many beautiful variations amongst us)

as a designer i've tended to create buildings from the inside out

i see how we also design our lives from the inside out

in this section of a building i am diagraming the many layers that i imagined to be working simultaneously as one walks through the spaces of a living archive (retrace. preserve. reclaim.) we are the living breathing architecture + our physical spaces are a reflection... .

this is a glimpse into how information gets sorted in my head... a remembering .

EMBRACE (wholeness)

May 29, 2017 in embrace, journal prompts

embrace all of self E M B R A C E (all of self)

the thing is

nothing is broken + "fixing" is not required

it is the full embrace that ignites a shift

the thing is the parts wished away are the parts that ask for awareness + acceptance

these parts that bring guilt + doubt + discomfort + fear of judgement are the teachers + the mirrors

that push for new choices to be made these are the guideposts

imagine

if nothing was good or bad

if everything just was... then everything would appear differently + aligned

choices would bring a sense of freedom.

embrace (all of self)

  • Archytypes (Infinite Qualities, Aspects of Source)
  • Inner Guidance leading back to  sense of wholeness
